>Role Models..REAL Women making a Difference!

>So, I want ot take this time and recognize some REAL Role Models that are making a difference. As we all know I am following the whole Kandee Johnson craziness over on FB, some of you know what I’m talking about. There is so much concern over her fans calling her a role model (which fathoms me) I thought I would bring to light some of the women/girls that ARE making a difference for young women and girls evrywhere..there are tons of them so I apologize for only naming a few.

First off I want to mention Hannah Taylor, she started thehttp://www.ladybugfoundation.ca/ LadyBug foundation when she was eight years old, she has brought so much awareness to the homelessness situation and has helped many,at the age of 8 years old Hannah has met with the Prime Minister to address her concerns to the issue of homelessness and The LadyBug foundation has built a homeless shelter in Toronto ..have I mentioned she is only 11 years old!!!! This young woman is truly an inspiration to many, and should be looked up to as a role model because this young girl is ACTUALLY doing something to change the world!! **For more on Hannah, please check out the www.theladybugfoundation.caAnother girl that is making a difference is, Anjelica Mantikas.

For Anjelica Mantikas no dream is ever too big, especially when she and seven of her friends decided to create a charity focusing on helping enslaved children in Ghana, Africa. Together the girls have received national and international publicity for the non-profit organization by donating their time and talent to the cause. And they’re all 16 years old. Please check out http://www.oneisgreaterthannone.org/ for information on this organization. These two young women are amoung many others that are stepping out to do good in our world, these are the young women that all young women SHOULD be looking up too..not some random wannabe Make up artist that sits behind her computer and blogs about nothing, that does nothing but apply makeup and plays dress up. As women we should all be striving to make this world a better place and these two young girls have taken it upon themselves to get out there and DO IT!! I commend them on their bravery, strength, and innitiative.

>Runaway( not really)

>Ahhhh have I mentioned how much I am LOVING Spring??? I just got back from a run with my lil ROCCO (I’m surprised the little guy can keep up with me)There is nothing like breaking out of the house in a pair of http://www.lululemon.ca capri’s and a light hoodie and going for a run and taking in all the beautiful sunshine and fresh air, who care’s how messy it is out there. For the past few months, well it’s been more than a “few” months to say the least, that the only running I’ve been able to do is on a treadmill at the gym..so I am FINALLY nice enough to get out there and hit the pavement…running!! And we all know that you can’t go running without a good quality & cute pair of running shoes! One of my favorites would have to be the easytone runners from http://www.reebok.com They have such cute colors and they look super cute too, while toning all those giggly parts we don’t care for too much.

Just take a look at those, they’re adorable and functional!!!J

>Some of my favorite springy things

>So it’s spring (finally) and as we enter a new season it’s time to put away all the heavy makeup and dust off or buy some new fun colors and lighter products. As I’ve mentioned I LOVE SPRING!! It evokes chages and a new begining..who doesn’t LOVE that!!!!With all the pretty ruffly tops and softer fabric you really want to make sure your skin looks just as pretty..I’m a lotion/cream/mosturizer JUNKIE!! I have an absurd amount of lotions..but the way I look at it, you can never have too soft skin.. ha ha ha.Some of my favorites would have to be the www.dove.ca go fresh line (I’ve talked before about this product, it’s a must have in my gym bag)

It smells so fresh and clean..and best of all it’s CHEAP!! so you don’t have to feel guilty drenching yourself in it. lolAs far as the makeup goes, I’ve recently just purchased and have been using for the past couple of weeks the FIT ME foundation by

I love this stuff, it literally feels like you have nothing on, smells fresh, and covers really well. Also on the CHEAP side.As far as makeup trends go, I’m not really into following them but more so taking bits and peices and incorporating them into MY routine. This spring there’s TONS of color, from vibrant greens and blues shades for eyes too hot pinks and soft pink for lips.

If you check out youtube for the spring trend there are guru’s doing the crazy blues and greens on their eyes and a strong hot pink on the lips..this too me looks like something a street walker would wear( example. Kandee Johnson’s trashy look)..lolIt may be fine for some but me..not so much. LOL I can just imagine if I did my makeup like that..what my man would say. LOLNailpolish is something I’ve played around with since I was young(er).. it’s so fun and easy to change..OPI has come out with some really pretty colors this spring( and I love all the crazy fun names they have for their polishes) same with chinaglaze I love to change my nails on a regular basis.. long gone are the day’s I’d get the boring french manicured gel nails…so now I LOVE to experiment with all the different fun colors.

so this spring have some fun and experiment with some color..just don’t go overboard:)

>Spring..Puddles..and Pretty Things

>

After taking my precious little Rocco for a walk today I started thinking about spring.. it’s soooo messy and slushy out there..yet absolutly perfect!
The tempertures are rising…hopefully for good as I’m pretty sure many will agree it’s about time!!
I personally love spring, mostly because spring means summer is just around the corner; the trees are starting to bud, the grass is peeking out from under all that snow..you don’t HAVE to bundles up with scarves, mittens, and winter hats!!
I was actuslly able to go for a walk today with a pair of capris that in the past few months I haven’t worn outside of the house or gym because it’s been soo cold, I LOVED IT!!

Spring also brings to mind all the fun things you can wear during this messy time.. one of my favorites is rubber boots. I know, I know for some this brings back memories of your mother making you wear rubber coats and ugly “duckies” ha ha ha..but thankfully in this day and age there are soo many cuter options.

And there’s something about looking fashionable and having dry toes that makes spring all the more fun and enjoyable!

Speaking of fashion, now I’m not a girly, girl to say the least but I do love all the feminine clothing that comes out at this time, all the muted colors, ruffling detail, and lighter fabrics, pastels…I find it so refreshing after all the tweed and heavier fabrics we’ve been forced to wear.

So here’s to greener grass, jumping in puddles and shopping 🙂

>HYPOCRITICAL MESS!!!

>Okay so I’ve been following Kandee Johnson for over a year now and up until the last month or so I was believed everything..so ashamed to admit that. I started watching her make-up videos and to be honest there are some good ones, but when all hell broke loose over her being a scammer and liar I jumped right in to defend her. How could people be so mean and judgmental to her??? Well, fortunatly I started doing a little research on her and connected with other people that had a bone to pick with her so to speak. I am shocked that someone that preaches love and light all the time could be such a manipulative biotch!!!

I guess what turned me off of her was her constant pitty party for one, claiming how she made mistakes by having children and had to give up her dreams, blah, blah, blah. OH lets not forget her comments about how she can’t afford certain designer labels for her kids…

This pisses me off so much because I know people who are struggling mothers, don’t get child support, have to work two jobs to provide for their kids. Thats the thing I guess..THEY WORK!
I could not imagine having a child and regretting it. Thing is if she felt this way, why continue having 3 more?? With three different fathers???

I understand having to give up or put your dreams on hold to raise your kids, but to constantly go on and on and on about how poor you are…do something about it.

Maya Angelou said it best:

If you don’t like someothing about your life, change it!

I don’t have enoguh time to get further into detail about this mess of a woman nor do I care to but just wanted to post these thoughts on her!!

>SCARED STRAIGHT!!!

>

Sooooo, as of last night I found out my in laws were going to be coming to town in the next week!!!! ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! To be quite frank, we don’t get along, they don’t like anyone, even their own son in law of over 10 years!!! I’m starting to freak out, had the worst sleep ever last night thinking about their arrival…

Seeing as my last post was on judgemental people..this story will fit in perfectly!!!

Here’s the back story, when my and my man met he had a roommate( from here on she will be referred to as “skank”) Soooo, just a few short weeks after we met I ended up getting pissed of and calling her a whore bag!! Which she was, lol I just happened to have been honest enough to say it out loud!! She would run her mouth to my BF’s ex (who he shares a kid with) and from there it was like a game of telephone..she would then run to his parents (who live in the same province/city) and tell them what she had heard..always making the skank look like a victim…

So when I finally met his parents 8 months into dating him, I could tell right away they had already made their minds up about me, questioning why I didn’t like the skank? Seeing as she was such a good friend and blah, blah, blah..(the friend part was totally exagerated by them, my BF couldn’t stand her)

So in the next few months me and the skank got into a HUUUUGGGE fight and she ended up moving out ( after making a huuuggge production of how she was the victim in all of this and I had “kicked” her out!!!) NOT TRUE!!!

I’m not going to get into too much detail about why, the point is SHE’s GONE, SHE’s GONE!! Hooray!!!!

Back to his ‘rents, they blamed me for her moving out, even though my BF told them he was the one who wanted her out, not me.

To this very day, they judge me based on what they’ve heard, most of it being untrue of course but they judge me. You’d think that after being with thier son for over 3 years would give them some sort of indication that he’s happy… So this brings me to today.

I’m not sure which parent is coming up to Edmonton…but either or..it’s freaking me out!!!

All I’ve ever wanted was to get along with them..and it’s so sad that they have made their own opinions on me based on what they have been told by a not so credible source. ( my mans cheatin ex)

So I’m gonna try to grin and bare yet another uncomfortable visit with them, hoping and praying this one will be different (it won’t)

>What do/how much do you really see??

>I’ve been doing tons of post on diet/fitness/nutrition..etc. But I wanted to do a post “image”

It’s human nature to look at someone and either think that person is attractive or not. We all do it. But how much do you really see of that person when you’re passing by? You see a girl/woman that is fit/thin, and automatically associate that with them being good at their job, have tons of friends, good in bed(this is what most pigs would think) healthy, etc. etc. We are so programmed to see someone that looks good on the outside and ASSUME everything is good and pretty on the inside. Just as if we see an overweight woman/man and ASSUME they are lazy, lonely, UN-healthy, etc, etc. It’s like the picture I added to this post of a lotus flower. Lotus flowers usually grow in the mud, what looks ugly on the surface but once it blooms it comes to life with beautiful colors…

I personally have friends of all shapes and sizes and don’t care to judge a person based on their body type. To be quite honest I used to have a friend back in the day that thought it was perfectly okay to try to make a move on one of my ex’s because in her twisted little mind she deserved him more than I did. He was fit, athletic & I was a few lbs. overweight. Needless to say I’m not with that douchlord anymore and definatly NOT friends with her either!! lol

Sure there are certain circumstances, I know I could never be in a relationship with a man that was overweight. I know I’m kind of contradicting myself here. But I prefer a fit guy. Same as height I could NEVER date a guy shorter than me!! lol

But in as seriousness here, what gives us the right to walk past a person and name call? point fingers? I’ve seen it so many times, I wrote a blog post a few days back about the “bitches” putting down a woman at the gym.

Another example of this, I know a girl that will NOT be caught dead going out to a club with one of her “fat” friends because she thinks people will judge her….um…you’re doing that before you even get to the dance floor hunny!!!! I’ve told her this and she honestly believes that she is justified in thinking this way.

I’ve also noticed it happen to me, my BF is tall, fit, athletic..and then theres me.. a little overweight. I’ve seen the looks from people from time to time. But stopped giving a damn because they DON’T know me or him to make that big of an impact in my life.

My point is this, if we just judge a person based on what we see on the outside aren’t we really missing out on how wonderful and special they could be on the inside???

So the next time you’re walking down the mall or somewhere and you see a person that is skinny or overweight don’t just judge them on their outter appereance.

>Sunshine and rainbows..well dreaming of at least!

>

Okay, so here in Edmonton I decided to hibernate all day due to the friggid cold weather. So instead of bitching and complaining about I thought let’s do a blog post about all the wonderful things I’m looking forward to this summer.

First of all +30 tempertures everyday would be just fine for me, the hotter the better as far as I’m concerned.

What goes great with hot weather you ask?? Well, margaritas on the patio, sun tanning( one of my faves) boating out at the lake, etc, etc. So here’s a little list I compiled of all the “HOT” stuff I can’t wait for:

– sun tanning
– boating
– margaritas on the patio
– bon fires in the backyard
– flip flops & other pretty sandals
– tank tops
– skirts
– hiking/ climbing the glenora stairs
– camping
– planting flowers/gardening
– driving the car with the top down
– CARRIWEST
– Walking down Whyte Ave.
Ahhhhhh.. I can’t wait till summer.

So what are you looking forward to this summer????

>MOTIVATION, what motivates you????

>Motivation. What motivates you??? you see this question everywhere, every diet, fitness website asks it. My motivation, is knowing that all the hard work, sore muscles, eatting egg whites and oatmeal everyday will pay off, hearing my BF say to me how much better I look, but most of all knowing I’m doing something for myself that will not only change my physical appearance but my inside.

Some people I’ve talked to in the health world think I’m CRAZY for not only quitting smoking, but for taking on this huge diet/exercise plan. I think it’s funny people would think this, because to me instead of focusing on “needing” a smoke, I focus on eatting healthy and working out. Some might say I traded one addiction for another; but is trying to be healthier really an addiction??

I used to HATE going to the gym, but ended up going because I was tired of feeling FAT, tired of NOTHING fitting right, NOT being able to wear my skinny jeans.. but most of all because my BF is a fitness fanatic that always goes to the gym, and one day he said to me ” you can bitch all you want, but I’m still going, you can come with me, or you can sit there and be pissed; up to you.”

So I went, I amost dies on the elliptical for 45 minutes..hating every moment of it..but after time started loving it, upping the intensity. Then one day came the weights…I felt soooo weird because at our gym you have the “girly weights” you know the ones, where you sit down, do isolated moves..but one day I decided to train with the big boys. I did my first set of 21’s with a 35lb barbell.. O-M-G!!!

I never felt so proud, until I started doing leg presses working my way up in weight until I managed to do 3 sets of 20 at 350lbs.

This alone was amazing to me that I could do this, until a guy walking by had to take a double take and commented on how he couldn’t even do that much!! YES!!!! To me that motivated me to do more, to push myself more, and more each time.

I’ve commented on home workouts I follow, and I’ve mentioned that they are on the intense side. But being able to accomplish them and see the results motivates me.
Knowing that all this hardwork, will pay off and I will wear a bikini this summer, motivates me.
Having a woman come up to me after seeing me at the gym and say’s ‘I wish I look like you’, motivate me.
Reading fitness blogs, and seeing the incredible transformations motivates me, Ava Cowan motivates me, Jamie Eason motivates me.

So I ask, what motivates you??
